Coega Celebrated its Diversity during Heritage Month of September

4 October 2019. As we bid farewell to the Heritage month of September, the Coega Development Corporation (CDC) celebrated cultural diversity through displaying various traditional apparel. Employees were in jubilation as they were allowed an opportunity to display their traditional attire, learn about other cultures, and embrace diversity in the workplace.

This initiative brought employees together – from Senior Executives to Lower Level Employees as well as those on the CDC’s Internship Programme

Throughout the month of September, CDC employees participated in indigenous gaming, shared their traditional dishes, and discussed issues related to cultural diversity within their Business Units.

“The organisation is committed to ensuring that its employees participate in important organisational activities that are aimed at promoting diversity, unity and collaboration in order to improve performance,” highlighted Dr. Ayanda Vilakazi, CDC’s Head of Marketing and Communications.

Dr Vilakazi accentuated the importance of employees’ unique capabilities, experiences and characteristics, which they bring to the work environment.

“Therefore, the CDC must continue to promote and strive towards creating a supportive environment in which each employee can realise maximum potential, despite their differences,” concluded Dr. Vilakazi.
