CDC employees celebrate a successful graduation

GRADUATION: The CDC Corporate Services team joined by the 2022 Middle Management Programme Graduates

Gqeberha, South Africa, 08 September 2022- On 30 August 2022, CDC Middle Management Development Programme graduates celebrated their momentous achievements. Twenty-one candidates successfully completed the Programme.

The CDC Middle Management Programme (MMDP) was provided by OIM Leadership Consulting in collaboration with the Netherlands Business School. The prestigious and challenging programme is based on a blended learning approach that included online learning, content training, and group coaching. The candidates also had to complete an Organisational Analysis which led to the successful completion of the Action Learning Leadership Programme. This completion provides European credits to the BSN International Action Learning Master of Business Administration programme.

The primary goal of the MMDP was to enable small groups to work on challenging issues regularly, take action, and learn both individually and collectively as they progress through action learning - the programme’s management design approach. This strategy enabled managers to share best practices with one another.

Graduate, Akhona Halana, shared the lessons she’s learnt in leadership, behavioural skills, and other competencies acquired through the programme: "I gained knowledge about my leadership style and personality via this programme. That would be the democratic style, but I’ve learnt that before making a leadership style decision, it’s important to consider the circumstances, the employee’s skills, and their level of commitment… the leadership style should advance as the employee does."

Furthermore, the graduates highlighted that the programme gave them an opportunity to figure out how they fit into the CDC as an operating system and how they contribute to its vision to be the leading catalyst for the championing of socio-economic development.

Zola Ngoma, the CDC Unit Head of Human Resources Management, shared the following during her vote of thanks: “To strengthen its talent base, ensure retention for operational effectiveness, and ensure business continuity, the CDC has a compelling business case to actively support talent identification and development strategies. The CDC is categorised as a knowledge-based and professional services organisation, where the organisation’s power and leverage to establish and retain a competitive advantage comes from the calibre of its talents and services as well as its competence. Additionally, the CDC is a developing organisation with a diverse workforce that is expanding with new employees."
