Bluewater Bay Sunrise Hotel maturing with time

Gqeberha, South Africa, 13 July 2022 - Since its opening in 2021, at the height of a global pandemic that shook the hospitality industry and brought it to its knees, the Bluewater Bay Sunrise Hotel (BWBSH) has continued to evolve as a premium 4-star service provider in Eastern Cape hospitality.

The easing of COVID-19 regulations and lifting of the Declaration of a National State of Disaster has reignited the desire to travel, reconnect and socialise with colleagues and friends, and the BWBSH doors and deck are ready to welcome patrons for weekend staycations or a light bite after a long day at work. As a subsidiary of the Coega Development Corporation (CDC), the BWBSH has become known for its breath-taking ocean views, crisp coastal-inspired décor, opulent interiors, and excellent customer service. Since its launch in March 2021, the hotel has extended its service offering to airport shuttles and offsite catering.

Visited by international delegates, royal families, and celebrities alike, the hotel has successfully hosted numerous corporate and private events including conferences and weddings as well as more intimate luncheons and baby showers. “I am pleased at our growth. We are working on intensifying our presence in the Bay area and invite everyone to experience the hotel,” says BWBSH Rooms Division Manager, Tania Piers Prinsloo. The hotel offers corporate rates as well as seasonal promotions, making a 4-star experience more accessible to those longing for an unforgettable hospitality experience. Current promotions include a unique “Room 319 Experience” where guests can enjoy a 5-course meal and butler service in a private room overlooking Bluewater Bay beach.

The CDC is proud that the construction of the BWBSH was done by twelve local SMMEs supported by CDC’s Project Managers, in line with its vision of being the catalyst for championing the socio-economic development. Perfectly situated outside the hustle and bustle of the city, the BWBSH is a 40-minute drive from Addo Elephant Park and offers its guests exclusivity and tranquillity as the only hotel in the coastal suburb of Bluewater Bay. One year on, the hotel has created employment for 38 permanent staff members, including talented homegrown Chef de Partie, Xolani Rasi. “I’ve learned so many interesting ways of cooking various dishes and as a result I have grown in the industry.” The hotel’s Watercress Bistro Lounge and Bar lends itself to spirited special occasions as well as relaxed Sunday lunches, thanks to its wholesome menu.

The BWBSH celebrated its official one-year anniversary in March this year and customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. In a review, one of the visitors, Philani Giyose, shared, "It is a wonderful getaway to a quiet Bluewater Bay suburb, affordable beachfront hotel, excellent meals, great service, and the rooms are as perfect as they appear on the website.” The BWBSH looks forward to launching its unique rewards programme on 1 September 2022, which it hopes will set it apart from the other hotels in the Bay. Come stay with us and enjoy the SUNRISE moments.
